Basic Facts Boxes

LI: To recall basic facts at speed

Today we began our basic facts challenge. The purpose of this challenge is to increase the speed we can recall these facts as this knowledge will help us when we are working with larger numbers.

My time today was 5 minutes. My goal for next time is to get under 4 minutes. To achieve this I will need to practise and recall my times tables.

I enjoyed this activity because next time I can practise and try to beat my time.

Statistical Investigation

LI: To read text, Gather sort, Graph and analyse the data

Our maths group created a diagram which shows the top six rivers in Auckland from smallest to largest. We used our collaborative skills to find out the data of each river. We put these rivers in this order from shortest to longest. Whau River, Tamaki River, Puhoi River, Waitakere River, Hoteo River, and Wairoa River. We used our knowledge to come to the conclusion on what river is the longest out of the 6 rivers in Auckland, which was Wairoa River.

I found this activity intresting because I analyse the data to figure out the shortest to longest rivers in Auckland.

RFE Graph

LI: To analyze our RFE graphs

LS2 have been reading for enjoyment over the past 2 weeks. We recorded our minutes on a google spreadsheet. Today we compared our data into a graph and compared our times from this week and last week.

My graph shows that I read more minutes in the weekend than week 1. It also shows that week 1 had more minutes than week 2. Blue shows week 2 and red shows week 1. I spent most times reading at home than schools therefore I had a lot of duffy books. I also found a interest of reading books for enjoyment. At home i usually read between 4pm- 6pm.

I enjoyed this activity because It gave me reading books for enjoyment.
